Dianne - Lawyer / Accountant
Dianne graduated in 1989 as an accountant as well as a lawyer and chose the accounting route as her first profession, starting life as a CPA in 1995. In 2010, she made the move back to law with a particular interest in commercial property, taxation and structuring aspects to business.
Dianne also spent quite a few years teaching at university covering all aspects of accounting, various aspects of finance, as well as a good coverage in the legal subjects. Her experience as an accountant are used daily, particularly with transactional law.
Having an understanding of tax is very helpful in looking at how to structure transactions, but also the entities that might be involved in a transaction. Also, sometimes the numbers that are involved in doing due diligence behind transactions and looking at business planning can be quite complicated for a lot of lawyers.
Dianne's understanding of accounting allows Proper Legal to provide a sort of crossover service between what would be considered to be regular legal advice and what crosses over into business analysis.

Dianne is a solicitor and the Principal of Proper Legal as well as being a qualified accountant.
As well as her work at Proper Legal, Dianne also lectures in accounting and legal subjects at Central Queensland University.
Dianne obtained undergraduate degrees in business and law at the Queensland University of Technology and completed her LLM at Cambridge University.
